Yes, but 2015 has been an exciting year.
Received notice yesterday that a flash fiction piece of mine, 'Fifteen Silver Shillings' has made the shortlist for the Bridport Flash Fiction Prize. It's not a particularly short shortlist (standing at 50, out of the 2000-odd entries), but what an honour nonetheless. Run since 1973, the Bridport Prize is one of those intimidatingly prestigious competitions, and the relatively new flash fiction category is only in its fifth year.
Co-incidentally, this is my fifth shortlisting this year, along with the Hennessey First Fiction Award, the Bristol Prize, and both the Fish International Short Story and Flash Fiction Prizes.
Making 2015 The Year Of the Shortlist, in fact. Definitely a reason to treat oneself to more Prosecco, yes? Yes.
Promise: more actual writing soon, rather than writings about writings.
